The Proxy war of Israel and Iran superintended by the USA comes with its surprises. Israel is small in size but mighty in audacity; Iran is medium in size but zealous in bigotry. USA is massive in size and mighty in power but derelict in calculation of the cost of her superintendency of the proxy war. However, an issue in the top burner, is whether the taking out of Ayatollah Ali Khomeini on the first day of the hostility that seemed so easy was not Iranian strategy to create a false sense of weakness! That singular act might have puffed up Israel’s sense of superiority but blunted her preparedness for a long festering war which Iran seemed to have braced for. Iran Air Defense seemed tattered but her missiles onslaught tends to be dooming the Iron Dome in Tel Aviv!
It is taken for granted that neither Israel nor the USA might have prepared for this magnitude of devastation from Iran. Like Vietnam debacle of 1969-1973, Iran has doggedly refused to capitulate or surrender even when most of her top Generals and government functionaries had been taken out, yet, her spirit is not vanquished! Iran seemed to be on a retaliatory mission against Israel and the USA’s interests in the Middle East. Lives have been vanquished, properties destroyed and economies eclipsed, yet, there seems to be no insight as to when this continuation of international politics in an extreme form would abate. Israel is Zionistic in her belief in a divine victory. Iran is zealous in her devotion to the destruction of perceived pagans in their unjustifiable jihad whilst the USA is brutal in her superintendency of this internecine and the lame dogs of religious hypocrisy, Nigerians are taking sides in a conflict that has no bearing or correlation with them!
Sadly, the ignorance of interloping in that which does not concern Nigerians is daunting! Whilst the Christians in their ignorance that Israel is rarely a Christian nation are invoking the God of Israel for the Israelis victory over Iran, the extreme Muslims in their extremism and bigotry are condemning the killing of their blood brothers in Iran. There is nothing wrong in praying for peace but the taking of sides and joining issues in ignorance is unfortunate. The sad commentary of this hypocritical stand is that lives are being exterminated daily in Nigeria by terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and State’s agents yet these hypocritical lots who shares the same colour, race, nationality and common patrimony with the victims, never sympathized with their brothers and sisters in the common heritage of Nigeria! Imagined our Muslim brothers evincing their desires to go and fight to defend their blood brothers in Iran and our Christian community invoking Holy Ghost fire to burn down Iran; a developed economy compared to our third world economy and poverty capital with no motorable roads, portable water, no electricity and no food for the common man! This is an ironic acceptance bothering on myopic religious fanaticism rather than rational reasoning.
Iran after this war of regional autonomy will continue to survive along with her citizens and her asymmetric warfare. Israel will also continue to survive whilst America will learn a lesson that more haste less speed and go back to the War Room Drawing Board to tactically withdraw from this technical defeat. In the aftermath of this, where will Nigeria be and what can she do!
Further, in my cosmic sojourn, I’ve learnt that it is no wisdom for one to weep out of their sockets one’s eyes in someone’s funeral for one would subsequently face his dear ones’ funerals some day that all the expended tears would be needed! What then would he do if he got no eyes to shed tears with? The Iranian/Israelis conflict is a sensitive political conflict of supremacy and survival, thus, ought be treated with caution when non actors join issues. War or armed conflict has its economies and is actually the continuation of politics. Thus, every war is fought to either waste or gain resources, human and material as well as attain political power. If Nigerians took sides, what do they stand to gain as passive actors based on religious affiliation in this war economy with our present precarious governance in absentia!
In conclusion, I would rather entreat that while we listen to and watch the barrage and carnage of war, amongst the belligerents, we rather learnt the place of tolerance and accommodation of one another in our cosmic sojourn instead of engaging in armed conflicts because most often, in armed conflicts situation, inter arma enim silent leges! Also beware that sometimes size and brute force may not win without tactical and strategic prowess. Remember also that the size of the elephant does not guarantee that it would not be killed by an ant if the ant entered its ear and gained access to its brain, the elephant is doomed.
